Vacation Leave

Vacation Leave Policy

Staff may accumulate a maximum of 40 vacation days at the end of any fiscal year. Unused vacation days can be carried forward to the next fiscal year, provided the total does not exceed 40 days. If accumulated vacation days surpass this limit, employees must reduce their total to 40 days by July 1 of the new fiscal year. Upon discontinuation of employment, no more than 40 accrued vacation days will be paid out.

Support Staff Vacation Accrual

Support staff working at least 24 hours per week on a 12-month basis are eligible for prorated vacation leave based on their full-time equivalence (FTE).

  • In the first through third years of continuous service, employees earn 10 days annually.
  • In the fourth and fifth years, employees earn 15 days annually.
  • Beginning in the sixth year and thereafter, employees earn 20 days annually.

Vacation leave becomes available after six months of employment.

Administrative Staff Vacation Accrual

Administrators on 12-month contracts are entitled to:

  • 15 vacation days per year during the first five years of continuous service.
  • 20 vacation days annually from the sixth year onward.

Unused vacation days exceeding 40 at the end of the calendar year will convert to sick leave unless specified otherwise in the administrator's contract.
