TVUSD provides employer-paid Short-Term Disability insurance through Principal for employees working 28+ hours per week. This insurance offers income protection for non-occupational illnesses or injuries, including maternity, starting after 30 days of absence. Key benefits include:

• 66 2/3% of monthly earnings
• Up to 22 weeks of coverage
• Maximum weekly benefit: $1,050

Note: Short-Term Disability benefits are considered taxable income by the IRS.
